Attempts to kill the Ender Dragon with just one person are considerably more difficult. Hitting the head of the Dragon deals the full damage of the weapon; hitting her anywhere else deals a quarter of the regular damage. Always keep an eye on Endermen, as if enough are provoked, they may prove even larger of a threat than the Dragon herself.

Since the Ender Dragon flies around, your best bet at damaging it will be firing arrows at it. Some players also take buckets of water, so when they fall from a tower, they can quickly use the bucket to land in water, rather than taking fall damage.
These are underground and can be found using an Eye of Ender. Using the Eye will cause it to fly up into the sky in the direction of the Stronghold.
Continue to follow it and the eye will begin to float lower, which means you are close to the Stronghold and need to start digging. Strongholds are big stone mazes, so once you dig where the Eye showed you to, keep an eye out for Stone Bricks. It may take a while to find the End Portal room.
Once the portal is up and running, jump in to head to The End and find the Ender Dragon. The first part involves taking down glowing End Crystals sitting atop Obsidian towers.
The Ender Dragon cannot take any health damage from the void at the End, unlike other mobs and the player themself. When the Ender Dragon's health is low enough, it emits a beam of light without dying, as if it's cracked. Notch originally wanted to add red dragons to Minecraft, but the idea was scrapped for an Ender Dragon.
Developer Dinnerbone is still interested in adding red dragons to the game as rideable and tameable mobs for players. Notch also named the Ender Dragon "Jean," similar to how he named the main player character "Steve.
This makes sense since it lays an egg after death. The Ender Dragon only ever attacks the player, and rarely any other Minecraft entity or mob.
